Per Bob McKenzie.

No surprise here. I think many saw that coming. I wonder if that means though that Whitney will be back right away.

Nice to see that their keeping their promise that they will only keep the players that deserve to be on the Oilers. Instead of the old way of keeping them up due to risk of loosing them to waivers. No surprise that they kept Petry over Chorney, but Corey Potter is still around (unless he's injured).

Yah Crott, that's what I thought too when I saw this waiver.. they've turned a corner a bit. Picking up Belanger (FINALLY) and Smyth and moving out some more "dead weight"... Dubnyk getting the game opener... Chorney waived. There have been a lot of positives for this year. I'd actually say a lot of obvious decisions.. so I don't think Tambellini is a genius GM or anything, but it's good to see that he's making the unpopular moves that really benefit the team.

good for him, I hope he gets a chance to play over there.

Also good for the Oilers, one less contract on the books.

Meh, this probably makes it harder for my boy Ian Cole to make the roster. Different types of player though. I would have guessed the Habs to claim Chorney myself...

I did some reading between the lines with us being at 22 bodies now (if you don't count the IR guys which doesn't count to the 23 man limit) and messaged Jason Gregor to figure out who must be coming back. Today Ben Eager did some practicing in the contact jersey. He figures that it's him that will be back. I was hoping for Whitney, but I guess getting a look see at Eager in regular duties won't be so bad.

Not that sad to see Chorney go. He definitely had his chance to make the Oilers and management obviously didn't care for him enough. I think there are players that can be acquired through free agency if the Oilers choose to.
