http://oilersnation.com/2011/9/17/hemsk ... t-say-what

I love the joke that he shouldn't do anything that makes him raise his arm over his head, so he says that he'll do a fist pump when he scores goals, instead of lifting his arms.

At any rate, sounds like he's pain free and the healing is coming along nicely.

He also noted that he wants to play more with Hall this year (although also interested in playing with Smyth, whom he says he still has good chemistry with). I still like Hall and Eberle together the best, but definitely would not be opposed to seeing Hall and Hemsky with more time together.

Edited topic since there's no point having several threads.

Depending on who you listen to from the mainstream media,.... sounds like Gagner's ankle sprain is higher up, which is bad, but it's not the dreaded "high ankle sprain". Renney says it's more of a mid-ankle sprain and Gagner is out week-to-week.

"Daddy, who's that?"
"Oh, it's just a dozen injured Oilers that are here to remind you that the season's started"

Glorious.

I'm just hoping that if we get another wave of injuries, they doesn't excuse another evaluation year.

At least we have a lot of forwards that can play. Not like other years.

Yeah, this surge of depth is such an awesome problem to have.

Honestly, we have like 40 players who if they would have tried out in the last two years would have made the team. It is awesome that we can look and have three players fit to play in a top six role at each position on a decent team, if not more.

LW: Hall, Paajarvi, Smyth
C: Gagner, RNH, Belanger, Horcoff
RW: Hemsky, Eberle, OMark

And then we have legitimate roleplayers that are able to play shifts in the NHL vying for spots as well. Guys like Lander, Eager, Jones, Keller, Green, Hartikainen, Petrell, Fedun, Potter, Sutton...

Legitimately there isn't room for everyone.

Per Gene Principe:

"Sam Gagner within a week.Ryan Whitney still day to day..Ben Eager evaluated after every practice. Tom Renney hoping sooner rather than later"

OK new injury update from Jason Gregor:

Hemsky has sprained shoulder. Out maybe two weeks. Hordichuk has knee issue ten days to a month according to Renney.

One of the Sportsnet guys (John Shannon) actually estimated 4 weeks though. So not sure which is more accurate. Hopefully the former.

Tom Renney says there is a chance either/both of Ryan Whitney and Ben Eager will play tomorrow. That's good news to hear, especially since Hordichuk checked himself into an injury.

From #NHL_Oilers on Twitter:

"Had an MRI today, didn't show anything. It's just sore & weaker. 5-7 days to get rid of pain & 5-7 to strengthen." Hemsky on his shoulder

I'm becoming numb to Hemsky's injuries. I've basically just resigned myself to the fact that him getting injured is inevitable and I starting to care less and less. It's so sad.

This is still the same injury though, not at the point where he is fully healed. He'll get there. I know most people are completely impatient with him, but I think we've waited without him for a long time now, we can wait 2 weeks for his shoulder to be close to 100%.

BTW, not long before the season started he mentioned that it wasn't 100%... so I'm not too surprise he had some pain again.

Scar tissue breaking up frickin' hurts for a couple days, then things get stronger. Hopefully this is the case. I would love for him to come back and have a great injury free rest of the season.

I'd assume Malkin had the same issue, since he has 'soreness' in his knee which is why he's missed a few games

Sounds like Gagner will be back soon. Renney mentioned that Gagner went through his test fairly well today. He was asked if it was possible he would be back tomorrow, and he did say it would be possible. He wasn't saying it was a high chance, but there wasn't any hesitation that made it sound like he'd be out much longer.

He also was asked if he'd consider putting him on the wing. He mentioned that there are lots of guys in our line up that are moveable parts. It might happen, it might not. But it's something he's considered.

Any word on Hemsky? He's turning into another Havlat it seems.
